Isaiah 35:3-10 (New King James Version)
the weak hands,
And make firm the feeble knees.
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.”
And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
And the tongue of the dumb sing.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.
And the thirsty land springs of water;
In the habitation of jackals, where each lay,
There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean shall not pass over it, But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool, Shall not go astray.
It shall not be found there. But the redeemed shall walk there,
And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness, And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
on the full armor of God…the breastplate of righteousness…”
Ephesians 6:13-14 (NIV)
When you put on this part of the “armor” every day, you should
put it on with a great deal of joy and thanksgiving. Why? Because…
There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins. Ecclesiastes 7:20 (NIV)
“There is no one righteous, not even one; Romans 3:10 (NIV)
Not One? Not even ONE. That doesn’t sound very “hopeful”!
“…no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. Romans 3:20 (NIV)
I’m not trying to make you feel bad, but you can’t become righteous by keeping God’s law. Because you can’t keep them – the Laws of God, that is.
So how do we become righteous? We put on the breastplate of righteousness! How? Simple.
“Be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ–the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. Philippians 3:9 (NIV)
Believing? You got it. Our right standing before God, our defense before the Father is NOT based OUR life, our performance, our good deeds but on the righteous life Jesus lived for us and we put on His righteous life by believing. We are righteous by believing. Believing in God’s promise of
salvation in Christ Jesus IS our righteousness.
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become
the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV) That doesn’t mean we no longer sin.
My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense–Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2 (NIV)
Thank you Jesus that even when we sin, I am covered, protected by Your righteousness for
I wear the breastplate!
